After undergraduate training in medicine at the University of Auckland, Jennifer trained in neurology at Auckland City Hospital. Postgraduate training consisted of an MS research fellowship, with the Therapeutic Immunology Group in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Cambridge (UK). There she completed her MD focused on immunological changes
